Trepan Tools

As the foremost authority on trepanning, Muskegon Tool design engineers have expanded their expertise beyond deep-hole cutting and have provided customers with major savings in high-production shallow-depth applications. Some trepanning applications include pumps, valves, hydraulic cylinders, ship propulsion shafts, aircraft components, nuclear reactor components.

Muskegon Tool offers these trepanning advantages:

  • Drill as deep as you want. There’s virtually no limit to the depth of the hole.
  • Save core for reuse. As the trepanning tool feeds into the work piece, the trepan bit or insert cuts a groove the width of the bit and a solid metal core remains. Because only the width of the bit is cut, trepanning is faster and more efficient than drilling with spades or indexable drills. Remove and reuse the metal core for other operations and cut your material costs even more.
  • Works on a variety of equipment. Muskegon Tool can develop your trepanning tool to work on horizontal boring mills, engine lathes, turret lathes, deep hole boring machines and other machines.
  • Simplifies maintenance. Trepan bits and wear pads can be replaced without replacing the head and stem so you spend less on tooling and labor costs. Shank type bits are stocked for immediate shipment.
